Gazetted 31 Dec 1915 Alfred William Bray was born in Salisbury, Wilstshire in 1881 and enlisted with the 10th Hussars and served in South Africa from 6 Nov 1899 to 23 May 1900 and again from 23 Feb 1901 to 21 Sep 1902, transferring to the 7th Hussars and the Military Mounted Police on 1 Oct 1904, serving in Egypt before the outbreak of WWI when posted to France on 13 Aug 1914.
