Description

Hugh Edward Walker was born in Whitby, Yorkshire on 22 Aug 1865, the son of Frederick James Walker M.V.O., of Middlesthrope Manor, and educated at Eton.

Commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Militia on 30 Sep 1882, Walker was granted a regular commission in the Yorkshire Regiment on 25 Nov 1885, transferring to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 6 Jan 1886, serving with the 1st Battalion in Burma from 31 Jan 1886 to 25 Mar 1887, and then in India from 26 Mar 1887 to 20 August 1894.

Walker was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 July 1895, and transferred to the Reserve of Officers on 28 Mar 1896, dying on 26 Sep 1935.
