James Buxton wa born in Ashover, Derbyshire in 1793 and worked as a labourer and served with the Norfolk Fencible Cavalry and 1 Troop, King's Dragoon Guards.
Aged 22 years, Buxton was Killed in Action during the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815 whilst serving in Captain William Elton's 1 Troop. He is listed in the Waterloo Prize List as 'Private Buxton, James, Discharged Dead'.
