James Cecil Rawlinson was the son of James Rawlinson, of African Chambers, 19 Old Hall St., Liverpool, Vernon Street Cemetery and 68 Rockfield Road, Anfield.
Before the war, Rawlinson was employed at Joseph Bibby and Sons, Liverpool and was a member of the Stanley Cricket Club.
Enlisting with the King's Liverpool Regiment, Rawlinson entered France with 18th (2nd City) Battalion, The King's Regiment (Liverpool) on 7 Nov 1915.
Killed in Action on The First Day of The Somme, Rawlinson was one of the 114 recorded men of Liverpool to be killed in the Somme Offensive.
Aged just 19 years, he is remembered at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz and also on a family tombstone at Southport Duke Street Cemetery.
