Mention in Despatches Gazetted 1 Jan 1946.

William Henry Ryder was commissioned Gunner on 26 May 1910 and served aboard H.M.S. Empress of Russia to 18 Sep 1915, Lama to 15 June 1917 and Monitor M-26 off the Belgian coast from 22 Mar 1918 to 2 Feb 1919. Ryder was then posted to the River Divina Expeditionary Force in North Russia from Apr 1919 and from 1920 to 1923 served with the Inter-Allied Commissions of Control in Konigsberg, Germany.
