Description

William Ernest Francis Teague was born in Acton, London on 13 Oct 1915, joining the Royal Air Force and posted to No.10 O.T.U. Abingdon in Oct 1941 before joining 159 Squadron in July 1942 at St. Jean, Algeria, serving as Navigator and Bomb Aimer in Liberators, flying sorties to Crete, Tobruk, Benghazi and other targets.

In Jan 1943, Teague was appointed to No.1 (M.E.) Ferry Control and was the Navigator of the aircraft which flew Field Marshall Harold Alexander and Arthur Tedder, 1st Baron Tedder to attend the Casablanca Conference and also returned General Charles de Gaulle from Casablanca to the U.K. on 8 June 1944; the same date as the Gazetted of his Mention in Despatches. Teague was finally demobilised on 20 Mar 1946, having completed 2669 hours of flying in over 200 missions.
